Users can send and read mail with a number of industry-standard Internet e-mail programs, including Netscape Communicator, Microsoft Outlook Express, CTM PowerMail, Mulberry, Simeon, Siren, and more. Post Office Protocol (POP) POP is a protocol that is used to receive, but not send, mail. With POP, new mail is downloaded to the user's computer when he or she connects to the mail server.
